Hi my name is Lis Sowerbutts and thanks for stopping by. I am hoping to use this blog to post some of my thoughts on travel tips and travel news. Travel is my passion, pre-Internet I usually knew more about the travel deals than the travel agents: since I discovered on-line bookings I haven’t needed a travel agent 
- I started travelling thinking it would cure my addiction: of course indulging an addiction doesn’t cure, it just makes the addiction worse!
- I’ve Eurailed Europe, trekked Nepal, backpacked South East Asia and India, and picked up some Spanish when travelling most of South America.
- I prefer luxury travel , but normally can’t find anyone to fund it so have to go a little bit more down market! In fact most of the time I travel independently either solo or with my partner.

- 1984 Moved to Australia, Broken Hill for work
- 1986 Moved to Papua New Guinea - also to work and holidayed in Solomon Islands
- 1988 Worked and Travelled in British Columbia, Canada
- 1988 independent buses, hitching from Vancouver to Mexico and back
- 1989 Backpacked Egypt, Skiied Austria and backpacked Scotland
- 1990 Overland trip backpacked Rajasthan and Northern India, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Australia
- 1992 Lived and toured South Island of New Zealand
- 1996 Travelled Southern India and Goa
- 1999 Beach resort in Fiji
- 2000 Southern Ireland (Eire)
- 2001 Spain and Greece and Penang
- 2003 East Coast Malaysia
- 2005 Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos
- 2007 Road trip 35,000km around Australia camping and 4WDing
- 2008 living in Perth, Western Australia, South West WA
- 2008/9 Drove from Perth to Adelaide and returned via train across the Nullarbor
The header image is from a misty morning on Hailong Bay, near Hanoi, Vietnam. We were on a junk similar to the one in the shot and the mist is typical for winter in the area.
I’m trying to make a living marketing and blogging on the Internet to fund my travel addiction! I also write an Australia News blog at this site.
I write on anything and everything over at HubPages - a site I recommend for anyone who wants to write more than short blog post. I also have my own blog which is more about how to earn passive income online

Hi catekiwi - I can tell you there are few decent cafes on the Nullarbor - and thats a whole other post!

I am currently somewhere in SE Asia but will be moving soon. That’s hotel industry for you, hence the nomadic lifestyle. Keep reading and see where I end up - I am curious too!
