Camping in the Rain.
Ever been camping and then it rains? It happens occasionally even in Australia! Of course if you are in remote area and the roads are dirt - and you don’t want to stay where you are for up to a week for the roads to dry out again: you will want to pack up and leave ASAP!
If however the rain is more a minor inconvenience to your budget 4WD holiday then here are some ideas!
If you are in town: check out the movie times, the internet cafe, the shops and the obscure museums that no one ever goes to: teddy bears and blacksmiths anyone?
If its warm and wet – don’t get your dry clothes wet – get into your swimmers and go for a swim if that’s an option. At least you won’t get sunburn!
Find a dry spot: hint even the most basic campgrounds will have a shower block, laundry, BBQ area with some shelter. Then you can hide from the rain and write your diary – or your next blog post!
I live up in the states, and last November I went camping in Yosemite. I woke up to an inch of water inside my tent! It rained all day and turned out to be a good thing. I finally went inside to see the various museums at Yosemite and had a very good day.
