Travel For the Over 30s in 2009
Wow its the last year of the decade; can you remember when we all partied like it was 1999 and waited for the millennium bug to stop civilization in its tracks? Seriously people wouldn’t travel for fear of aircraft falling out of the sky or the traffic lights going haywire. I still count the Y2K as one of the biggest cons of the century - because midnight struck and what happened - well nothing! But that was because of all the billions spent on IT right - wrong Italy decided 5 years earlier that it was cheaper to pick up the pieces, so as a country did nothing, Italy had no problems either.
Anyway back to 2009 - this is seriously scary stuff people! I started this blog about travel for the over 30’s exactly two months ago. Why did I start the blog? Do you really want to know? Well I saw someone mention the site as a way to get paid to blog and investigated it and realised that I could:
- get paid to post;
- get paid to provide do-follow back link to my other sites;
- get paid to refer others here
You see I am not really a blogger - I’m an internet marketer !
Yup one of those scum-of-the-earth which spam the internet trying to make a dollar or three. One of the tricks with internet marketing is to make sure that your build up page rank and authority for your sites with lots of relevant backlinks. That’s why you are always deleting comments from people called “loose weight now” and “sexy black chick”.
Now I’m not a very good internet marketer - I am certainly not making a living wage from it - but I am trying to develop a network of sites which will provide me with passive income. A number of those sites are about my passion: travel. This Travel for the Over 30s was started to provide a source of links for some of my other sites.
I have got kinda fond of today though: its a great community - I get more readers than I ever have for a general blog, and yes Google does love Today - and I think will continue to so long as Today’s management keep manually reviewing all the posts here! Its become a bit of game to try and post everyday - and I suspect quite good for my writing too!
Thanks today - originally I had intended to only post intensively for the first month and then only enough to keep the account in good standing. But as of now I like the site so much that I am going to keep going for a fair while longer!
The plan for this blog is to keep on providing topical, quirky and fun travel topics. I’ll share my experience where relevant but save the detailed travel diary stuff for elsewhere. Keep an eye on Budget 4WD Travel which I intend to revamp in the next few weeks and add my more recent Aussie adventures too.

I agree! I’ve been using today.com for almost a month for my travel blog (Journeys and Adventures) and I’m having a great time! It’s a great motivator to write at least a little bit every day, I’m challenged to continually come up with new ideas, and, as you say, the little bit of pay certainly doesn’t hurt!
Good luck in the new year with your travel writing and internet marketing!
